DYC: Such an Enriching Experience

From all ages, from across all Europe, with all kinds of senses of humor, it was a very diverse group and the things that united us were apparently little. Still, we managed to create a good ambiance in which everyone felt included and safe to be themselves and express their opinions.

From the first day we all met, we already started playing a card game called “uno”, we quickly made some inside jokes that were always a cause of laughing out loud.

We all see eye to eye about the fact that there was the perfect balance between work and free time. We felt like we were learning, debating, growing, sharing, and not judging. We were also surprised by how we all participated so much in all the activities proposed. In addition to the fact that we all prepared carefully what we had to do, just to offer our colleagues the best we could offer them.

After the working mornings we had an early lunch, and I must highlight that I’m very grateful for being able to be immersed in French culture even gastronomically too.

The only possible barrier was the language, but thanks to the constant attention and caring of the coordinators Myriam and Moutiaa, in the end, the language was not a problem. They helped us find everything and indicated the instructions very clearly.

It was such an enriching experience to see Lyon. Personally, I had never been to this city before and for me it was eye-opening and extremely inspiring La Basilique Notre Dame de Fourvière. We made the most out of the few days in Lyon by going to La Basilique twice. We also got bikes and visited some parks, as well as a boat to make a bit of a history city tour, but overall, we walked, we admired, we met local people, explored and went beyond our physical limits to fully get to know Lyon.

To sum up, I would love to thank WYA and Erasmus + for making this experience possible. I’m positive I have met people that I will never forget and that have taught me more than I could have expected.
